Your flying with this build! I`m trying to catch every minute I can in the shop to build mine but I`ve not even made a complete part yet! I`m still trying to cut a wheel.
Can I ask a couple of questions - 1. To cut your wheels are you using commerical cutters or making your own single point? It is this that is causing me all the problems - if I purchased them it would be much easier but they are just too expensive ... £52 per cutter and I would need a 0.6 and 0.8 for the wheels and then two 0.8 mod cutters for small leaf pinions! £220 cutter alone.
2. What other specialist, non-standerd engineers tools are you using. Obviously a depthing tool of sorts? I have just purchased Colin Thorne - Clock Building for the Model Engineer and he says to buy burnisher set 0.5mm to 10mm. That is a really huge range of burnishers...are they necessary?
Hope you can help. Do you have an email as posting messages like this in your comments is hijacking your blog a little! My email is posted in a previous message. Chris
Hi Chris, as regards burnishing... When I turn a pivot I take very slow light cuts so that the steel stays very shiny. Then I have a small handfile that I have ground down and I have stuck fine emery paper to it using double sided sticky tape. I use this to polish it furthur. I dont think burnishing sets are really nessesary.

Cheers Craig, I can`t seen any pictures of you depthing the wheels, what tool are you using for this?
